Week 3 - 2 May 2009

Thirroul 6-Blue — 14 vs Collegians Black — 24
Yet another solid performance from our boys, however the fulltime score didn't go our way this week, full credit must go to all our players with everybody doing their very best right up until the end, which was very pleasing to see. All the boys contributed very well with Tyson, Reyne and Mitch all scoring good tries, Mitch Murry also kicked our first goal of the season. This weeks Gloria Jeans Award goes to Brayden Squires for a very good first up performance for the butchers, and Maclain Coleman-Locke gets the Stockland Man of the Match Award for excellent running with the football. Keep up the good work.

Thirroul 6-White — 30 vs Collegians Red — 8
Another strong game from the boys. Great runs by Parker, Billy, Coen & Jared. Strong games from the rest of the guys also. Great to see Parker converting his own try. Keep up the good work boys & super coach 2 from 2. Special thanks to Jye Gibson for helping us out from 6-Blue.
Encouragement Award / Gloria Jeans Coffee: Coen - rampaging runs Man of the Match / Stockland Spirit Award: Cooper - being a great sport & helping to other team for 10 mins and great allround game for us.

Thirroul 7-Blue — 40 vs Wests Blue — 0
A fantastic defensive effort by all. The devils didn't get near our try line all game. Some huge tackles by Riley J, Rory G, Ben, Liam E and Isaac stopped them in their tracks. 3 great tries a piece to Liam G and Ben got us to the 40 point mark. Our play the ball is improving every week. Keep up the good work boys.
Encouragement Award / Gloria Jeans Coffee: Liam Gervaise Man of the Match / Stockland Spirit Award: Riley JANS

Thirroul 7-White — 26 vs Wests Red — 12
An exciting win for the mighty whities, it was not our best game but the boys had to much strength and skills for the devils to handle. Tynan had a great game crossing for three tries and some great cover tackles. Trent and Cooper were the other try scorers. Well done boys!
Encouragement Award / Gloria Jeans Coffee: Jet Lincoln Man of the Match / Stockland Spirit Award: Tynan Cropp

Thirroul 8-Blue — 42 vs St Pius Red — 4
A great effort by the 8 Blues to beat St Pius quite convincingly. The boys lost nothing over the school holidays to dominate in all areas of the game, our defence is the key to winning games, lets keep it up.
Encouragement Award / Gloria Jeans Coffee: Johnathon Keyes Man of the Match / Stockland Spirit Award: Josh Martin.

Thirroul 8-White — 50 vs St Pius Blue — 6
The mighty whities have had there first win for the season downing the St pius blues 50 to 6 in a dominate display of bone crunching defence and some brilliant try scoreing movements it was good to see the boys rewarded for all the hard work they have put in and i think this could be the start of better things to come keep uo the great work boys.
Encouragement Award / Gloria Jeans Coffee: Kaleb Hocking Man of the Match / Stockland Spirit Award: Tait McPherson

Thirroul 9-Blue — 16 vs Thirroul White — 18
The Butchers are going to be highly represented with the boys from this age group. Both teams played a very skilled game of football and the score shows just how equal these two teams are. It was great to see Jay, James W, Liam, Ryan, Brad have some great run’s and Zac, Jake S, Ethan, Nic and James O have come a long way in their first year of football. The white team will be very competitive this year. Good luck boys
For our team I couldn’t have been more proud. The boys played the game with one less player with our play maker Regan absent, but lucky we had Jackson to step in. This was Jackson’s first time running the boys around and he played the complete game. Jackson was rewarded scoring a great try. It was a timely return by Riley after being out for the last 6 weeks. Riley showed he will be a valuable player in this team with his defence and great running skills Riley also scored a great try. Jake scored the first try of the game with some good thinking from dummy half diving over close to the line. Kyen showed us how to kick a ball, kicking it dead from the kick off. Declan used his pace to run down players after breaking our line. Ben and Drew ran hard and defended strongly. Bryon had some good runs out wide and tackled strong. Kane had another big game, like in the first round against Port Kane seem to attract the bigger boys in the opposition when running the ball but after getting knocked down Kane would jump strait back up.
Great game boys

Thirroul 9-White — 18 vs Thirroul Blue — 16
A great game of footy from both under Thirroul 9 sides with some great skills and pace on display.

From the under 9 white side Jay Archer put in a man of the match performance with a great kicking game and forwards James Wildin, Liam Green and James O making ground with some great strong runs...another mention to Ryan Binns who played fast and scored some great tries.

Ethan.H and Bradley.M put in some strong runs and Jake Soles great cover defense with some good tackles...also Zac Jans played a good game with great support play.

Well done boys.

Thirroul 10-Butchers — 12 vs Berkeley — 6
A very tough defensive game from Berkeley made us work hard to grind out the victory. Braiden Bryne had a great game, running on to the ball hard saw him take out the Man of Match award. Tries to both Braiden and Harry Devine.
Encouragement Award / Gloria Jeans Coffee: Cameron McIvor Man of the Match / Stockland Spirit Award: Braiden Bryne

Thirroul 10-Blue — 10 vs Thirroul White — 24
All the boys played well. Everybody had a run which was great. The halves were outstanding and so were the wingers Jarrod and Eden. We do need the forwards to push harder and go forward more, but that will come with training and perserverence. All in all it was a good perfomance.
Encouragement Award / Gloria Jeans Coffee: Alex Harris Man of the Match / Stockland Spirit Award: Jarrod Peace

Thirroul 10-White — 24 vs Thirroul Blue — 10
Well the boys tried really hard and came away with a tight win over our other butcher side. We were short players and were very lucky to have some back up from the 9's> Thanks to Ethan, Liam and Ryan for helping us out for a good hard fought win. Boys still need to move UP UP UP!!!IN Defence. Great tackling and running Kyle. Go team.
Encouragement Award / Gloria Jeans Coffee: Brock Lincoln Man of the Match / Stockland Spirit Award: Kyle Goodwin

Thirroul 11-Blue — 26 vs Collegians — 4
We started slowly after a long break against a much improved Collies outfit. Mez, Tom and Luke led us forward strongly while A.J cleaned up the middle of the ruck well. He was well supported in defence by Ben and Curt. Great to see Mitch and Skips involvement and congrats to Luke on his first try.
Encouragement Award / Gloria Jeans Coffee: Joel Martin Man of the Match / Stockland Spirit Award: Joel Meznaric

Thirroul 11-White — 4 vs St Pius — 18
The boys turned up, did there best and played well. The main thing is to turn up to training, as training is as important as turning up to play Saturdays.
Encouragement Award / Gloria Jeans Coffee: Dylan Swan Man of the Match / Stockland Spirit Award: Adisorn Prabphai

Thirroul 12-Blue — 8 vs Wests — 20
A pretty ordinary start to the game saw one player dominate from Wests dominate. In the second half our blokes dominated that one player and we won the second half 8 - 4. Lots of improvement to come.
Encouragement Award / Gloria Jeans Coffee: Man of the Match / Stockland Spirit Award:

Thirroul 12-White — 30 vs Port Kembla — 18
This week's game was excellent as this singled one of the wins for the coming season. All players performed well and we would like to thank the reserves that filled in for players on holidays. Jake and Riley had another great week that resulted in this weeks performance.
Encouragement Award / Gloria Jeans Coffee: Man of the Match / Stockland Spirit Award:

Thirroul 12-Butchers — 0 vs Windang — 46
Boys are on the improve but defence let us down again. Windang were a well drilled team and as long as we try to grab the opposition and not use our shoulders to hit them in tackles we will continue to loose games. Some individuals tried hard and made good tackles.

The entire team are aware of the focus on tackling at training this week.

I hope everyone is enjoying their football
Encouragement Award / Gloria Jeans Coffee: Joshua Riley Man of the Match / Stockland Spirit Award: Blake Martin-Ebbs

Thirroul 13 — 30 vs Dapto — 12
Well done boys 30 to 12 win over Dapto, after a month off, injuries and interruptions we started slowly, before we clicked up a gear and went to the break 24 nil ahead with strong completions of our sets and a good kick chase resulting in Lachlan Stein scoring 4 trys. The second half was a real scrappy as we had no reserves and fatigue started to show against 20 men . However we stuck to our game and finished the job. Its always good to win at Dapto. Special mention to Lachlan Stein a great effort you were rewarded with 4 trys , also Lachan McIvor mate well done in the middle. The day was marred with Jake Keen breaking his wrist early in the game which requires surgery on Sunday. Good luck Jake and we hope to see you on the side line next week cheering the boys on. Well done to all the 9 boys playing in the rep trial on Sunday.
Encouragement Award / Gloria Jeans Coffee: Lachlan McIvor Man of the Match / Stockland Spirit Award: LAchlan Stein

Thirroul 14-1 — 50 vs Gerringong — 6
A month off showed during the first half of the game against Gerringong. A frustrating start for the boys saw them being hammered with penalties and too many silly mistakes prevented them from applying the pressure on Gerringong and with the loss of Hayden late in the half didn't help. But what a fantastic effort from all the boys to cover Hayden in the 2nd half. The boys really showed commitment and drive to put the game in favour of the Butchers within 10minutes into the 2nd half. A very committed forward pack showed the way and the backs did the job with good set plays and four backline moves resulted in tries. Well done to Josh Harris Price for a strong man of the match performance which was assisted by Sam Kerr and Josh Simmons.

Thirroul 14-2 — vs Helensburgh —

Encouragement Award / Gloria Jeans Coffee: Man of the Match / Stockland Spirit Award:

Thirroul 15 — 12 vs APOF — 22
The under 15’s went down narrowly to Albion Park on Saturday. They showed some glimpses of how much talent is in the side but unfortunately were unable to string it all together. Our attacking plays during the game were very positive although some defensive lapses were the major factors in the loss. I’m sure during the next few weeks with some hard training we will be at our best and be well structured across the park.

There were great efforts shown by the majority of the boys. Honourable mentions on the day were Sam Fulton, Jack Croman, Anthony Field, Lachlan Schubb, Ethan Blencowe, Rob Percy and Zach Spinks. Although these boys are mentioned, it was the help of the rest of the team that made them shine.
We’re almost there boys – keep up the good work and let’s have a win next week!

Thirroul 16 — 18 vs Wests — 10
Another hard fought win. Wests scored first but the boys hit back with a try from Zac. Our defence was good but there are areas that we need to improve upon. Joseph scored in the corner and Zac came up with his second try. Great kicking by Corey who kicked a penalty goal with 2 minutes to go to cement the win. Jack got 2 intercepts and Julian and Cooper where again outstanding. A great start to the season but we need to keep our heads there is still a long way to go.
