Week 14 - 25 July 2009

Thirroul 6-Blue — 24 vs Berkeley Blue — 4
A very good performance against a strong berkley side, some of our standouts were Tyson Cooper, Maclain Coleman-Locke and Toby Couchman. This weeks awards go to Thomas Bush for great concentration and a massive improvement in his game as well as Brayden Squires for excellent running and defence. Good luck to all the boys in next weeks Gala Day.

Thirroul 6-White — 40 vs Berkeley Gold — 10
A great way to end the boys undefeated season with a good win. Our defence today was strong and our attack was fantasic with some tries comming from three or four passes, also some great individual efforts. The boys are also now starting to convert about 50% of tries which is a great effort. Many thanks to the coaching staff for the great season, super coach Rowan on the field and Ben for his efforts all year with great training sessions really kept the boys interested hence they have all developed great skills. The boys need to be congratulated for there great first season with 272 points for and only 66 points against well done boys!!! Thanks to all the mums and dads that have helped out through the season.

Another great effort against an understrength berkeley side. Congratulations Taylon on scoring your first try!! Isaac, Ben and Riley played solid games. Rory G made some good runs. Tries to Riley L and Liam (Fred) helped our score blow out to the 50 mark. A fantastic effort completing the year underfeated!!! Go Butchers!

Thirroul 8-Blue — 22 vs Corrimal Green — 0
Our last comp game and our hardest game this season but the boys showed brilliance to beat corrimal green 22-NILL. Jacko and Dozer gave us the go forward with their strong runs and defence while Josh, Johnno, Nelson and Jett put in some great runs and crowd pleasing tackles and Will, Burger, Harry and Elijah continued their great form to help the team to a great win and an underfeated season. Well done.

Thirroul 8-White — 38 vs Corrimal Red — 20
Another great effort by the boys in the blue and white against a willing Corrimal red side, but they could not match the pace and skill showed by the dominant mighty butchers. Our boys showed some great attacking flair in the 38 to 20 defeat but our punishing defence was the difference between the to sides well done boys. I would like to thank Reilly,Liam D,Jackson,Kalab Sean,Tom Tait Cooper,Keegan and Liam S for an outstanding effort all season it was apleasure to coach all of you. Also a big thanks to Marty Haynes for helping at every training session and Paul Plummer and Matt Shelley on match days and to all the parents and grand parents thank you.

Thirroul 9-Blue — 4 vs Woonona-Bulli — 14
A great game of footy boys, Everyone played very well with good hard runs from all. This was our second game of footy in 5 weeks, so to hold a team off that has only lost one game all year is a big effort. You should all be proud of yourself's.
Thanks to the u8 boys again for filling in - Jono, Neilson and Josh.

Thirroul 10-Butchers — 6 vs Helensburgh — 12
A disappointing way to finish the competition, hopefully thats our bad game out of the way and full steam ahead into the semis, the boys made enough mistakes to lose 40 nil but to their credit the Burgh could still only cross twice. Its going to be a tough week at training boys, so be ready and lets give Wests a tough time this week.

Thirroul 10-Blue — 12 vs Windang — 24
The last game of the season saw us a player short for the whole game with some early injuries not helping. The boys didn’t start well and let Windang in for two early tries. From there, they turned it around and tackled and ran well and were unlucky by missing out on some tries which would have changed the result. Will and Alex tackled hard and Owen, Clint, Jarrod, Eden, Michael and Liam all ran hard. Jordern put in some strong runs and Sandon used his jink and duck to good effect. Owen and Clint got the tries. Some good back line moves demonstrated how well the boys had put their coaching into practice. The boys skills have really improved this year which will put them in good stead for next season. Well done!

What an outstanding display of courage by a team that was depleted by school holidays and illness. I am so proud of all 9 players and the effort that was put in was awesome. This win is going to put us in great shape for an assault on the finals.

Thirroul 11-White — 22 vs St John’s Dapto — 6
Great game boys, first half was a bit slow but once you all got into 3rd gear you were unstoppable, with awesome defence followed up by great attacking skills. Riley Johnson ran like a wrecking ball destroying the defence and at one stage running 50 metres with two players hitching a ride for the last 20 metres and scoring a try. Joel Dunning finally decided to use his pace out stepping and out running the opposition for his first try of the year. Awesome trys also to Dylan Swan and Tommy Nellies, but as I always say anyone can put the ball down over the line but its the great team effort in defence and attack that gets the ball to the line. Time to step up now as we head to the SEMI FINALS. I've done all I can do now and the rest is up to you boys...Try your hardest and Good Luck.

Thirroul 12-Butchers — 0 vs St John’s Dapto — 28
We look pretty good with the football but continue to consistently set a good defensive line. Poor tackling was definetly our down fall all year. In the last game we passed the ball all the way across the back line and Ty got a few sweeping runs out wide. Unfortunaly the game finished early with Ozzie Brooks injured in a high tackle - it is confirmed he is OK
I enjoyed the year and have a few new yound mates.

Well done boys we made the long trip south a did the job with a good win 64-0 with lots of highlights from the game. The most pleasing aspect of the game is we played as a team and veryone of you did your jobs well. Next week is a big week for us we need to focus on Wests and a Victory should ll see us qualitfy for the semi's and a chase the title to go one better.this year. Keep up the effort and the good work.

Thirroul 14-2 — 6 vs Milton-Ulladulla — 44

Thirroul 15 — 34 vs Berry — 16
Congratulations boys on a great win against Berry on the weekend! It just goes to show that if we stick to our game plan and play as a team we can play great football. We had a strong start but put our heads down when things didn't go our way. After half time the boys took inspiration from each other and played awesome football. There were some great tries and our defense was solid.
Everyone played strongly and special mentions go to Jack Croman, Lachlan Schrubb, Rob Percy, Nick Kelly and Kyle Heycott who played his best game of the year. I am very proud that the boys finally showed not only the coach and parents how well they can play but mostly themselves! Let's keep up the good work for the rest of the season and finish off on a winning streak!
Also a special congratulations to Todd Banks - the boys will know what that one is for!

Thirroul 16 — 22 vs Woonona-Bulli — 20
This was always going to be a tough game. We let Woonona get a 12 nil lead over us but the boys hung in there and hit back with halftime score of 12 all. 3 more games to go but we need to keep performing to make the semis.
