Great start to the season, not only because of the win but because of the huge improvement since the trials. This is due to the big efforts put in at training. The boys are starting to get the skills correct more often then not. Thanks to Rowan Cooke for stepping up on such short notice and coaching the boys. Great first game. Thanks to all the parents who are helping out also. Hope to see Jai Taylor and Morris McHugh back on the field soon.

An excellent first game by all boys. We have all improved a great deal since last season. Collies beat us on every occasion last season but we really showed them. Great game Liam Eager, your cover defence was outstanding. Ben and Isaac had strong games as did Rory. You guys looked like giants out there! Welcome to Liam Doig who played his first ever game.

Thirroul 7-White — 16 vs Berkeley — 26
A great start to the season for the mighty whities we were just squeezed out at the end, but a great effort from our boys, Toby leading the way with a big effort in attack and defence hitting the line hard with the ball and backing up with some bone crunching tackles followed by Trent and Cooper. Solid efforts from all the boys great to see and we are looking forward to next week.

Thirroul 10-Butchers — 0 vs Wests — 32
A tough start to the year against a red hot devils side who proved they are the team to beat. The score did not reflect that we held our line for long periods but everytime we got the ball we found ways to turn it over, hence the scoreline. Great game from Cooper Nizza, Harry Devine showed plenty of muscle up front and Braiden Bryne was busy in attack and defence.
On a brighter note the boys got to play at Win Jubilee on Sunday at half time between the Dragons and the Sharks. It was a great experience playing in front of a massive crowd. They had a 4 - 4 draw with Renown United, Aaron Griffiths bagged the try.

What a great start to the season for 2009. All the boys played as a team which bought about an evenly matched game against a strong Collies side. Special mention to the new boys Keiran, Eden and Harrison. Great game boys. Welcome back to Michael. 2 tries to Jarrod and 1 each to Clint and Owen. Encouragement award to Eden for outstanding tackling.

Thirroul 10-White — 52 vs Windang — 0
Awesome start to the season. Boys played well as a team in attack and to keep Windang to nil was very pleasing. Other teams in the comp wont be so easy so lets keep up the hard work at training.
Again well done boys!!

Great start to the year boys, when we had the ball we outplayed Corrimal with our structure and passing, although they scored the same amount of trys we converted them all. Converted trys to Tommy Nellies, Kyle Squires, Adisorn Prabphai 2 trys and a conversion to Joel Dunning. Bailey Mathieson a big welcome to league with a great first game and a special mention to Kazlo Radick who played like a man on a mission...well done team. This weeks special to be served at training is defence defence defence.

Thirroul 12-Blue — 20 vs Thirroul White — 10
A slow start in the first half against an opposition who turned up to play. The second half was much better with the boys impoving in defense which allowed the attack to do its job. Welcome to new coaches John and Nev and best of luck with the U/12's teams. Great to see new volunteers without these guys our kids wouldn't be able to footy(IT'S ALL ABOUT THE KIDS)

Thirroul 12-Butchers — 0 vs Corrimal — 38
It was the teams first outing and a heap of work on defence and working as a team is required.
The forwards showed they can run with the ball. There was some excellent tackles including Charlie George and Bayley Freeman completing try saving tackles.
There were some good signs of what we can achieve.
Encouragement Award / Gloria Jeans Coffee: Man of the Match / Stockland Spirit Award: Luke Dawson

Thirroul 13 — 14 vs Stingrays — 26
Not the start we wanted but thats football going down 26 - 14 , we need to turn up ready to play. Lets not point any fingers but the hard work will start from here. We did play well in patches, but Generally we were to one out and showed no passion in our defence we were just content to let your mate do it. We must get numbers in tackles and put them on the deck. With that said, Strong performances from Tom McDevitt, Lachlan Stein, Zac Greene and Bailey King tackled himself to a stand still. We have a couple of injuries so boys look after them. I am sure we will have a big game next weekend when the draw comes out.

Thirroul 14-1 — 54 vs Dapto — 6
Well, what happen to summer? Already we are back to the footy season for 2009. It's great to see most of the boys back with a few extra new faces. A very impressive 1st round match against Dapto saw all the boys apply themselves right across the park to dominate all facets of the game. With all the forwards hitting the ball up with strong runs and some bone crunching tackles had Dapto on the back foot from the get go. The set plays and combinations by the backs ensured that Dapto were well and truly kept out of the game. Well done to the Coach, Darryl Crosland with the assistance of Dave Emery on Monday nights you are both doing a fantastic job. Your efforts have definitely improved the boys’ footy skills in the game of Rugby League. It definitely appears the boys are set for a great season in 2009.
A very big welcome from the coaching staff, manager, trainers and the other players to the 6 new players, Sam Kerr, Jarred Thompson, Jarred Newey, Luke Edmondson, James Patterson and Josh Harris Price, joining the side. We hope you all enjoy your year with the Butchers and hope you continue your affiliation with the club for many years to come. Well done boys keep it up - Cheers!

Thirroul 15 — 26 vs Port Kembla — 32
The boys started well with 3 quick tries on a shell shocked Port Kembla. Port soon fought back and put the same amount of tries on us. With 10 minutes to go we were sitting on a draw but unfortunately the boys couldn't hold out and the opposition scored again to win the match. All of the boys muscled up against a very strong and big Port side and should be extremely proud of their performance. Sam Fulton was outstanding in attack and bagged a hatrick for his effort.
Encouragement Award / Gloria Jeans Coffee: Callum Barnes Man of the Match / Stockland Spirit Award: Sam Fulton

Thirroul 16 — 26 vs Shellharbour — 22
What a game! The boys were up against A grade grand finalist and took to the field with no reserves. With even tries it took 2 penalty goals to win the game. Tries by Zac, Andrew, Jacob Devine and Cooper. All the boys played well but special mention to Julian and Cooper who were outstanding. Welcome to newcomer Adam and great to see Jacob Sloane return after finding out we were short. A huge thanks to Aaron who has once again put has hand up to coach and to Mick Mysercough who has come on board to co-coach. Determination, hardwork and commitment will see these boys have a great year.
